A monastery is in financial trouble, so it goes into the fish-and-chips business to raise money. One night a customer knocks on its door. A monk answers. The customer asks, “Are you the fish friar?”

“No,” he replies. “I’m the chip monk.”

  1. A monastary is a sort of Catholic church except the friars live there. And the friars are not priests but they are as far from royalty as far as material wealth they have to make a vow (promise) of poverty and spend their lives praying and studying the Catholic faith.
